Notably, actors such as Chiranjeevi, Ravi Teja, and Prabhas delivered some action-packed hits that resonated well with audiences in theaters. Despite the box office triumphs of films like Pushpa, RRR, and Sarkaru Vaari Paata, leading Tollywood stars Allu Arjun, Ram Charan, and Mahesh Babu had no theatrical releases in 2023. As fans eagerly await the cinematic treats lined up for 2024, here's a list of actors who took a break in 2023 but are gearing up for their much-anticipated releases in the upcoming year.

​Ram Charan


Ram Charan's was seen in 2022 in SS Rajamouli's blockbuster hit 'RRR,' alongside Jr NTR and Alia Bhatt. The film achieved significant success grossing over ₹415 crore domestically and a total of ₹1,387.26 crore worldwide. Notably, it set various box office records, ranking as the third highest-grossing Indian film, second highest-grossing Telugu film, the highest-grossing Telugu film of 2022, and the highest-grossing Indian film of 2022 globally. In 2023, there were no releases for the actor, but he is gearing up for S Shankar's 'Game Changer' in 2024 which sees him alongside Kiara Advani.

​Allu Arjun


Allu Arjun's last film was the box office hit 'Pushpa: The Rise,' released in 2021 and directed by Sukumar. Starring Rashmika Mandanna, it became the highest-grossing Indian film of 2021 and one of the top-grossing Telugu films. Arjun received the National Award for Best Actor for his performance in 2021. While 2023 saw no theatrical releases for the actor, fans can anticipate the eagerly awaited sequel to 'Pushpa,' set for release on August 15, 2024, after completing post-production.

​Mahesh Babu


Mahesh Babu's recent appearance was in the 2022 action thriller 'Sarkaru Vaari Paata' alongside Keerthy Suresh. Directed by Parasuram, the film grossed approximately ₹110,000 crore worldwide, ranking as the third highest-grossing Telugu film of 2022. In 2023, there were no theater releases for the actor, but fans are eagerly anticipating his 2024 release, 'Guntur Kaaram,' directed by Trivikram Srinivas. The film, set to release on January 12, 2024, features Sreeleela as the lead actress.

​Jr NTR


Jr NTR is currently preparing for the mass project 'Devara,' set to release in two parts. The Telugu debut of Bollywood actress Janhvi Kapoor, the film is in production and expected to release on April 5, 2024. Directed by Koratala Siva, the movie will feature music by the successful composer Anirudh Ravichander, and Saif Ali Khan will play the main antagonist role. He was last seen in SS Rajamouli's 'RRR' along with Ram Charan.

Yash delighted fans with the 2022 blockbuster 'KGF' directed by Prashanth Neel. 'KGF: Chapter 2' is the fourth highest-grossing Indian film worldwide and the second highest-grossing film in India. 'KGF: Chapter 1' was the highest-grossing Kannada film and achieved cult status. Despite no theatrical releases in 2023, Yash's much-anticipated film is 'Toxic,' directed by Geethu Mohandas.
