'Baahubali’ actor Rana Daggubati raises alarm over AI's future in films: 'It will replace all of us quite quickly'

Actor Rana Daggubati has spoken bluntly about the accelerating role of artificial intelligence in filmmaking, cautioning that the technology could radically alter and possibly displace traditional creative roles in cinema. The star of ‘Baahubali’ suggested that the shift may happen far sooner than most in the industry expect.

While attending the AI Impact Summit 2026, Rana reflected on how AI is already transforming storytelling, production, and performance. Sharing his concerns about the future of actors and technicians, he told ANI, “It will replace all of us quite quickly”. His remark captured both the excitement and anxiety surrounding AI’s rapid evolution.

From blockbuster villain to pan-India star

Rana rose to nationwide fame with ‘Baahubali 2: The Conclusion’, where his portrayal of Bhallaladeva became one of Indian cinema’s most iconic antagonists. He has also earned acclaim for diverse roles in films such as ‘Rudhramadevi’, ‘Ghazi’, and ‘Nene Raju Nene Mantri’, showcasing his ability to move between historical epics, war dramas, and political thrillers.

Rana Daggubati's Hindi production debut

As per a Gulte report, the 'Baahubali' actor has been actively expanding his banner, Spirit Media, into a pan-India production house. The project will be a film adaptation of the acclaimed novel 'Last Man in Tower', written by Booker Prize-winning author Aravind Adiga. The film will feature versatile actor Manoj Bajpayee in the lead role and will be directed by Ben Rekhi.

Rana Daggubati's work front

On the acting front, Rana Daggubati was last seen as the lead in the web series 'Rana Naidu' Season 2, released in mid-2025. Last year in October, he was revisited in the theatres with the re-release of 'Baahubali: The Epic', which combines both previous 'Baahubali' titles.
