Times when Ajith's 'Valimai' made headlines

Starring Ajith, Huma Qureshi and Kartikeya Gummakonda, ‘Valimai’ has been released in theatres worldwide on February 24 in four different languages. The movie is the most anticipated movie of 2022 and it has been making news for the past two years since its official announcement that the then tentatively titled ‘AK 60’ and now ‘Valimai’ is helmed by H Vinoth. ​Ajith’s 60th film

In October 2019, it was announced that actor Ajith will start shooting for his next film titled ‘Valimai’. The movie launched after a mihurat in December 2019 and soon after in February 2020, Ajith was reportedly injured and the shooting was halted till November 2020. There was no other update from the movie makers regarding when the movie will resume shooting and fans even had doubts whether the movie will move forward.

​When fans asked about Valimai update

The word ‘Valimai’ update became a trend in 2021 and it was one of the most used hashtags on social media. With the movie stalled for a while, fans started questioning and asking for updates on the movie. In January 2021, Ajith fans in Thiruchendur held a banner asking for ‘Valimai’ update. Following this in February 2021, the then Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu while on a political rally was also asked about the update on the movie. Another incident that shook the entire nation was when fans asked about ‘Valimai’ update to England cricketer Moeen Ali.

F​ans ask PM Modi about the film release

There were even mishaps and incidents when fans started asking Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi for a ‘Valimai’ update during his visit to Chennai. It was in 2020 before the Tamil Nadu state elections and BJP candidate Vanathi Srinivasan took to Twitter and stated that if she wins in the election, she will help fans to get an update regarding ‘Valimai’.

First Motion Poster

Later the buzz on Valimai update was reduced as the movie crew requested the fans to wait patiently as the work was underway. In July 2021, the first motion poster of ‘Valimai’ was announced and then the first single from the movie ‘Nanga Vera Maari’ was released in August 2021. ‘Valimai’ release

After its announcement of release in theatres, fans were very eager to watch the film. But with the pandemic restrictions re-imposed in theatres by the state government, the movie was postponed to a later date. It was then decided that the movie will release on February 24, 2022. Now, the fans are even more excited as the movie is finally released. Within just a few hours of the ticket opening, a;; the theatres were fully booked for the first week for ‘Valimai’.
