Despite direct OTT releases, theatrical releases also get great attention digitally as they release quickly. 'Kadaisi Vivasayi'

Manikandan's directorial 'Kadaisi Vivasayi' is about the life of an aged farmer. The film had Nallandi as the lead with Vijay Sethupathi and Yogi Babu in supporting roles. Despite great reviews from critics, the 2022 Tamil release had a below-average collection at the box office. But the film earned an awesome response from fans after its OTT release, and it turned out as one of the best films of 2022.

'Veetla Vishesham'

RJ Balaji starrer 'Veetla Vishesham' is the Tamil remake of the Hindi film 'Badhaai Ho' and the film had its theatrical release in June 2022. The comedy-drama is about an aged couple welcoming their third baby and the film is packed with quirks. Further, the movie received more response from the audience after its digital release, and the RJ Balaji starrer turned into a third successful film for the actor.

'Gargi'

Sai Pallavi starrer 'Gargi' is about a daughter's fight to prove the innocence of her dad, who claimed to have sexually assaulted a girl child along with 3 others. Kaali Venkat played a lawyer and he stood in support of Sai Pallavi in the battle. After being critically acclaimed, 'Gargi' failed to have an extended theatrical run, and the film won praise from fans after its OTT release.

'Legend'

Popular businessman Saravanan Arul made his acting debut with 'Legend', which was directed by the duo JD-Jerry, and the film was released in theatres in July 2022. Even though the film turned out to be a record-breaking one for the debutant actor, it failed to have an extended theatrical run and the film's OTT release was delayed. However, the film started streaming on a popular OTT platform a week back, and it has been trending at the top among recent online releases.

'Dada'

Kavin starrer 'Dada' is about a father and son relationship, and the film opened well at the box office. But due to back-to-back releases, 'Dada' failed to hold its screens and the film had an OTT release a few days back. Kavin started winning praise from fans as several ones, who missed watching the film on big screens, watched the film on OTT, while director Ganesh K Babu and female lead Aparna Das also got an appreciation for their excellent work.
