Sandy Joia remembers Sidhu Moose Wala; says “in a few years he achieved so much that people fail to get in a lifetime” - Exclusive

It is almost 4 months since Sidhu Moose Wala passed away, but the wound still feels fresh. Some call it a political game that took Sidhu’s life, some blame it on gang war, but one of Moose Wala’s friends Sandy Joia simply said, “I don’t know what is the truth behind his demise, all I know is that the most significant truth for me is that he is no more; a legend is no more and though we would do anything to have him back, we know we just can’t.”

He spoke very fondly about Sidhu Moose Wala in an exclusive interview with ETimes. Below are the details.

Sidhu Moose Wala and Sandy Joia’s bond

Sandy Joia is a Punjabi producer from the music world, and he used Sidhu Moose Wala’s lyrics for his song ‘Kyu Ni Dekhda’. Sidhu and Sandy became really good friends and didn’t even realize when their professional bond turned personal. “We were like brothers. I never saw a person as genuine and humble as Sidhu. He always had everyone’s best interests in his heart and was never interested in any gossip. For him it was just him, the truth, and his music; that is all that mattered. And I am glad that music brought the two of us together as well,” said Sandy Joia.

Last year on Sidhu Moose Wala’s birthday, Sandy and his team even distributed free food to the needy. A small reel of their noble act was shared on Sidhu’s official page as well.

“He had the moon”

Sandy added that he was both happy and surprised to see Sidhu’s growth in the Punjabi music world. He quoted, “In a few years, he achieved so much that people fail to get in a lifetime”. He had the moon in his palm, and no pride riding his head. He had fans not just in Punjab, or India, but internationally as well. In fact, look at the irony, those who didn’t know him when he was alive after his demise have been seen playing his music on a loop. He left a legacy.”

The sight of the final rites

We all know that people from different nooks and crannies of the world came to pay their last respect to Sidhu Moose Wala during his last rites. Sandy also visited Sidhu’s parents at that time and stayed with them for a couple of days. “I used to believe that Sidhu was a strong personality, but when I met his parents I saw from where he got his strength. They were broken in pieces, yet performed all rituals, and attended everyone who came to pay their last respects. It was a heartbreaking sight,” said Sandy Joia.

“Will always remember him as a great artist and the greatest friend”

“Sidhu was the purest soul one could have ever come across. We have worked together, and spent time eating, chatting, and laughing together. If I had the slightest hint that our time together would be this short, I would have made the most of every second. In the end, all I want to say is that I will always remember him as a great artist and the greatest friend,” concluded Sandy.
