Most impressive directorial debuts of Mollywood

Malayalam cinema has always had good directors at its helm and most of the top league filmmakers have always struck gold at the box office with their super hit films. However, some of them gave biggest money-churners in their first attempt itself with their unique storyline and directorial skills. Of late, a number of directors have emerged in the scene who have impressed everyone with their debut films. Let 's take a look at some of the directors who have had hits in their first attempt itself.

RS Vimal - Ennu Ninte Moideen

The director’s debut venture narrated the real-life story of a Muslim boy, BP Moideen and a Hindu girl, Kanchamala. Though not high on entertainment value, the movie raised politically relevant questions and created the 60s realistically. The film won seven awards at Filmfare Awards South 2016 including the Best Director Award. With the success of the film, Prithviraj Sukumaran found a top spot at the box office after back-to-back flops. Vimal’s second directorial venture is an epic historical film based on the Mahabharata titled ‘Karnan’ with Prithviraj in the lead.
