Shahid Kapoor, Aditi Rao Hydari face flak for their salute selfies! Here's why...

Bollywood celebs paid respect to the jawans by tweeting their salute selfies on Independence Day. While #SaluteSelfie took Twitter by storm as several B-Town biggies, sportspersons and famous personalities shared their selfies, Shahid Kapoor and Aditi Rao Hydari faced flak for their posts, as both offered salutes with their left hand. Shahid wrote, “#SaluteSelfie acknowledging the selfless, brave heroes #IndianArmy.” Aditi's caption read, “Thank you for every single day that you selflessly risk your life for our peace and happiness #SaluteSelfie.”

Soon, their Instagram posts were flooded with messages like, “Never salute with left hand, its wrong,” and “Salute always wit right hand wit left u insulting hero’s.” another reaction read, “Madam right hand se salute karte hai..left se nhi.”

Khoobsurat actress, Aditi Rao Hydari, and Heropanti actress, Kriti Sanon, also shared their proud salute selfies on Twitter. Shah Rukh Khan, who has been a part of many patriotic films like Phir Bhi Dil Hai Hindustani, Swades and Chak De! India also saluted the jawans of Indian army along with Radhika Apte of Ahalya fame. Interestingly, Sri Lankan beauty Jacqueline also raised her hand to pose for the salute selfie as a sign of respect for the Indian jawans who secure the international borders and defend it with their life. Dressed in an interesting short black dress, Jacky nailed it with her style appeal and magical smile. American actress, of Pakistan origin, Nargis Fakhri, too, saluted the jawans.

Priyanka Chopra’s salute selfie was impressive. Pee Cee belongs to an army family and her respect for the soldiers seemed heartfelt. Tweeting the picture, she wrote, “Respect. Pride. Gratitude... for the Indian Armed Forces! #SaluteSelfie #JaiHind #ArmyBeti.” Preity Zinta, too, noticed the trend and shared her salute selfie with the caption, “#SaluteSelfie Proud to be an Indian Army Brat inSare Jahan Se Accha, Hindusitan Hamara inJai Hind.”
