7 yesteryear roles that Priyanka Chopra will rock!

After having shown us her brilliance when it comes to acting, we think there isn't a role that Priyanka Chopra cannot pull off. From portraying a strong character like the one in Madhur Bhandarkar's Fashion to rocking it in full filmi style in Mujhse Shaadi Karogi, Priyanka manages to impress. Not just that, the former Miss World was at her stylish best in Farhan Akhatr's Don series and at the same time won our hearts with her spectacular performance as Jhilmil in the critically acclaimed and commercially successful film, Barfi!. Here we list down a few roles that we think she can pull off with elan. Read on...

7 yesteryear roles that Priyanka Chopra will rock!

Devdas: Every Bollywood actor would kill to be a part of Devdas. While the 1955 rendition directed by Bimal Roy starred Suchitra Sen in the role of Paro, Sanjay Leela Bhansali's magnum opus had none other than Aishwarya Rai living the dream. However, if Devdas was to be remade again, we think that Priyanka Chopra would ace the role of Paro, Devdas' lover who gets married to an older man but continues to love Dev. While both Suchitra Sen and Aishwarya Rai did an applause-worthy job in their respective portrayals as Paro, we think PeeCee would also be able to pull off the role if the film is remade.

Pyaasa: Rated as one of the best films of all time and included in Time Magazine's '100 best films of all time,' Guru Dutt's Pyaasa is a film that was made with a lot of heart. We don't think that anyone can dare to tell the story of a struggling poet and a prostitute as beautifully as Guru Dutt has. Although, Waheeda Rehman played the role of Gulabo, a prostitute with a heart of gold, to near perfection, if the film is remade, we would recommend Priyanka Chopra's name for the same. From Priyanka's interviews we gather that she is a die-hard romantic and so falling in love with a poet may come naturally to her.

Mother India: If the iconic film, Mother India, is remade, there would be a lot of contenders for Nargis' role. While we feel that classics like these are best left untouched, if the film is remade, Priyanka Chopra can be the choice for the title role. Priyanka has shown us her brilliant acting abilities in films like Fashion, Barfi!, Kaminey and she would give a lot of her contemporaries, a run for their money.

Naya Daur: BR Chopra's brilliance was executed on the silver screen in the form of Naya Daur, starring Dilip Kumar, Jeevan and Vyjayanthimala. It was a film the depicted the evils of industrialisation by focussing on the irrelevance of tongawallahs thanks to the swanky buses in towns. A film that enjoys cult status today, is best left untouched. But if we decide to remake the film, we would love to see Priyanka Chopra in Vyjayanthimala's shoes. Priyanka would not find it difficult to play a village belle and we think that she will be convincing as the supportive lover who stands behind her tongawallah's lone fight.

Awaara: Another classic features in our list and like we said about the rest, we cannot imagine Raj Kapoor and Nargis' epic love story, Awaara being remade. It is difficult to take a leaf out of Indian cinema's most iconic film but if we have to imagine anyone who can dare to play the role of Rita, Priyanka Chopra comes quite close.

Mughal-E-Azam: Dilip Kumar and Madhubala's romance that was captured beautifully on the big screen for Mughal-E-Azam cannot be forgotten. The film enjoyed another release but this time it was digitally coloured. Nevertheless, it brought back memories of the beautiful era. If we dare to touch this valuable piece of art today, Priyanka Chopra would make for a beautiful Anarkali. Pee Cee will have to try hard to push and shove other actresses from the running for this iconic character.

Mr India: Mr India is a popular film that finds takers even today. Anil Kapoor plays a music teacher, Arun, and is the ultimate aam aadmi, who is pushed around every time by the corrupt people at the top. The film's story still resonates. So, if a remake of the film is on the cards, it should star Anil Kapoor himself. However, the role of a feisty journalist and Arun's lady love was played by Sridevi in the original and if anyone decides to remake it again, Priyanka Chopra would be a good choice. We would love to see Pee Cee doing a 'Hawaa hawaaii' act for the remake.
