Anushka Sharma is hitting the headlines yet again after pictures of her daughter Vamika were recently leaked on the internet. Even before Vamika was born, the actress has hit headlines for various reasons. From getting a lip job done to being trolled for Virat’s poor performance, here's looking back at the times when Anushka Sharma found herself in the middle of controversies.

Anushka Sharma was snapped cheering for husband Virat Kohli as he played against South Africa in an ongoing tournament. The actress was accompanied by her daughter and despite their request for privacy, Vamika’s pictures went viral on the internet. In a statement issued later, Anushka accepted that she was unprepared for this. “We realise that our daughter's images were captured at the stadium yesterday and widely shared thereafter. We want to inform everyone that we were caught off guard and didn't know that the camera was on us. Our stance and request on the matter stay the same. We would really appreciate it if Vamika's images are not clicked/ published for reasons we have explained earlier. Thank You!"

In 2019, former Indian wicketkeeper Farokh Engineer had slammed BCCI selectors and stated that they served tea to Anushka during a World Cup match in England. Taking a strong stand, the actress had shared on social media, “The latest version of these ill intended lies is that I was being served tea by selectors at matches during the World Cup! I came to one game during the World Cup and sat in the family box and not the selector’s box as reported but when has the truth mattered when it's about convenience! If you want to have a comment on the selection committee and their qualifications please do so as it's your opinion but don't drag my name into it to substantiate your claim or sensationalise your opinion. I refuse to allow anyone from using my name in such conversations.” Anushka received an apology from Farokh Engineer later.

Anushka Sharma’s appearance on Karan Johar’s chat show had led to netizens speculating that the actress went under the knife. The actress faced a lot of flak for getting a lip job done. Clarifying on the same, Anushka had shared on social media, “Let me very vehemently assure everyone that I have by no means gone 'under the knife ' or done any kind of 'plastic surgery' or undergone any intrusive procedure.” The actress also maintained that she would never undergo plastic surgery and added, “I do not believe in plastic surgery or any other means of unnatural permanent changes to the body. I do not support it or stand for it or recommend it.”

Fans of cricket have often trolled Anushka Sharma, blaming the actress for Virat Kohli's poor performance. Back in 2016, Virat stood up for his then girlfriend Anushka and slammed all detractors. "Shame on those people who have been having a go at Anushka for the longest time and connecting every negative thing to her. Shame on those people calling themselves educated. Shame on blaming and making fun of her when she has no control over what I do with my sport. If anything she has only motivated and given me more positivity. This was long time coming. Shame on these people that hide and take a dig. And I don't need any respect for this post. Have some compassion and respect her. Back in 2020, Sunil Gavaskar had commented on Virat's performance while referring to a video of the skipper facing Anushka Sharma's bowling. He stated, "Ab jo lockdown tha toh sirf Anushka ki bowling ki practice ki unhone, wo video dekhi hai, usse to kuch nahi hona hai (During the recent lockdown he only practiced to Anushka’s bowling, I saw a video. But that is not going to be enough)." Reacting to it the actress had penned on social media, "I’m sure over the years you have respected the private lives of every cricketer while commentating on the game. Don’t you think you should have equal amount of respect for me and us? I’m sure you can have many other words and sentences in your mind to use to comment on my husband’s performance from last night or are your words only relevant if you use my name in the process? It’s 2020 and things still don’t change for me. When will I stop getting dragged into cricket and stop being used to pass sweeping statements?” Later on, Gavaskar denied being sexist and explained that he was only describing the rustiness of players.
