It's Vicky Kaushal's birthday today and the actor has indeed come a long way in very little time - with pure talent! He enjoys a huge fan following now and is one of the top new-age stars in the industry. Although, he's seen his own journey which may not have been all easy. Assistant director on Gangs Of Wasseypur
While Vicky's father Sham Kaushal is one of the most well known action directors in the country, he wanted to make a mark of his own. He graduated with an engineering degree but was interested in movies and started assisting Anurag Kashyap for 'Gangs Of Wasseypur' and 'Bombay Velvet'. He also played a small role in 'Luv Shuv Te Chicken Khurana'.
Debut film and growth
Vicky made his film debut with 'Masaan' which was a hard-hitting story. While the film got a lot of critical acclaim, it's still remembered for how good it was. Vicky's performance also received a lot of love and remains memorable over the years. However, it didn't bring him instant recognition. He went on to do projects like 'Zubaan', 'Raman Raghav' later which slowly made more space for him in the industry.
2018 - breakthrough year!
While 'Raazi' was a female driven film with Alia Bhatt headlining the project, Vicky also got a lot of accolades for his performance and character. In the same year, he had 'Sanju'. Both these movies, didn't have the actor playing the central part, yet he made sure to get enough recognition and love. He also had 'Lust Stories' and 'Manmarziyaan' in the same year.
National Award for Uri: The Surgical Strike
'Uri' which released in January 2019, paved a way for him and how! The film turned out to be a huge hit at the box office and it was Vicky's first solo hero of sort. It went to get immense love from the audience. Not just that, Vicky won a National Award For Best Actor for the film. There was no looking back after that. Vicky went on to do 'Sardar Udham' and also won several accolades for it.
Heartthrob status!
In no time, Vicky attained the heartthrob status, not just with his performances but also his pictures on social media. So much so, that when he married Katrina Kaif in 2021, fan girls thought she was lucky and were quite heartbroken that he's taken!
