Tiger Shroff, Disha Patani, Gauahar Khan: Celebs who got busted for flouting COVID-19 norms

Tiger Shroff and Disha Patani found themselves making headlines on Thursday morning after the Mumbai police confirmed that the two were booked for flouting Covid-19 norms. If the last year under lockdown has taught us anything, it is that no one is above the law, especially during such trying times. We have drawn up a list of Bollywood celebrities who didn't just get busted for breaking pandemic prevention norms but also had FIRs slapped against them for the same.

Tiger Shroff and Disha Patani

A day after actors Tiger Shroff and Disha Patani were spotted on a car ride together, the two were booked by the Bandra Police for violating lockdown rules. It was confirmed on Thursday that an FIR was filed under IPC section 188 (disobedience of orders promulgated by a public servant) and 34 (common intention) against the actors. Their driver has also been booked. However, as it was a bailable offence, no arrests were made.

3/7

Naseeruddin Shah

Veteran actor Naseeruddin Shah stepped out to stretch his legs on Wednesday evening but had to take a U-turn and head back home after being stopped by the Mumbai police. ETimes paparazzi captured the veteran actor on his usual walk at Pali Hill, but on being instructed to avoid stepping out during the lockdown hours as part of Covid-19 protocols, Shah played the dutiful citizen and instantly headed back home.

4/7

Gauahar Khan

Gauahar Khan stirred up quite the controversy when the BMC booked her for flouting Covid-19 protocols. An FIR was registered against Khan after the BMC received word that the actress was shooting for a film in Mumbai despite having tested positive for Covid-19. "The rules apply to all alike and we urge citizens to follow all guidelines and help the city beat the virus," the civic body tweeted along with a copy of the FIR.

5/7

Vivek Oberoi

Vivek Oberoi's video showing off his new ride got him into trouble with the cops. The actor was penalised for Rs 500 by the Mumbai traffic police after he shared a video of himself riding a motorcycle without a helmet. Not just that, the star was also not wearing a mask despite it being mandatory during the Covid-19 outbreak. The cops later issued a challan to Oberoi.

6/7

Susanne Khan

Sussanne Khan had all of B-town buzzing when she and a couple of her friends were held after a raid at a posh club for violating social distancing and Covid-19 norms. About 34 people including cricketer Suresh Raina and singer Guru Randhawa were booked that night under sections 188 (Disobedience to order duly promulgated by public servant), 269 (whoever unlawfully or negligently does any act which is, and which he knows or has reason to believe to be, likely to spread the infection of any disease dangerous to life), and 34 (Acts done by several persons in furtherance of common intention) of IPC, police said in a statement to PTI.

Rumours of the stars being arrested also began doing the rounds, but were later denied.

7/7

Kanika Kapoor

Bollywood singer Kanika Kapoor was among the first stars to test Covid-19 positive and even the first to be slapped with multiple FIRs for 'negligence' amidst the first wave of the pandemic. The singer stirred up quite the controversy when her test results were made public and it was reported that she had attended several gatherings. Kapoor was booked under IPC Sections 269 (negligent act likely to spread infection of disease dangerous to life), 270 (malignant act likely to spread infection of disease dangerous to life), 188 (disobedience to order duly promulgated by public servant)for negligence and disobedience to the order issued by a public servant. Following the news break, those who came in contact with the star at the gatherings were tested and reported to be Covid-19 negative.
