Sushant Singh Rajput to Shah Rukh Khan: 7 times actors used special effects to look younger on-screen

There may have been a time, not too long ago when filmmakers frantically scouted for younger lookalikes of stars for their films. But thanks to some new-age movie magic, we get to see our favourite Bollywood and Hollywood stars travel through time in the course of the same film. Be it rocking some wrinkles or regaining their youthful charms, here are 7 times actors from Shah Rukh Khan to Sushant Singh Rajput, Robert Downey Jr to Hugh Jackman, used technology to look younger in films.

Sushant Singh Rajput in 'MS Dhoni: The Untold Story'

Late Bollywood actor Sushant Singh Rajput gave one of his best performances in the sports biopic, 'MS Dhoni: The Untold Story'. In the biopic, a then 30-year-old Rajput featured a teenage Dhoni as he chronicled his life from a small-town boy in Ranchi to the man who led team India to a cricket World Cup victory.

Robert Downey Jr in 'Captain America: Civil War'

For a scene in 'Captain America: Civil War', Marvel quite literally turned back time for 'Iron Man' actor Robert Downey Jr as they featured him in a look straight out of 1987. According to reports, the technique of featuring a young Tony Stark and a much older version of the same character along with other actors in the same frame was something that hadn't been done before.

Salman Khan in 'Bharat'

Bollywood superstar Salman Khan may often use CGI and visual effects to add definition to his sculpted physique, but, when it came to his film 'Bharat', the actor chose technology to de-age his character. The hugely successful film told the story of a man through six decades, and it was only natural for the makers to shuffle the timeline and have Salman take over the screen in all his youthful charms before ageing rather quickly through the film.

Hugh Jackman in 'Logan'

Hugh Jackman, famous for his role as the Wolverine, finally bid adieu to the clawed mutant in 'Logan'. The film saw the hunk rock some greys and wrinkles for his final act as the character, but fans were in for a treat when he also came face-to-face with a younger version of his character. Although a body double was used for the scene, the makers used some face-mapping tech and major de-ageing technique and Hugh was back to looking as good as we remembered him in the first 'X-Men' movie.

Shah Rukh Khan in 'FAN'

What's better than a film with Shah Rukh Khan in it? Well, obviously a film with two King Khans. For the movie 'FAN', SRK turned to cutting-edge technology to play his own double in a film that told the story of a superstar and his obsessed fan. SRK played the dashing film star and went through the process of de-ageing to play the role of a 25-year-old crazed man named Gaurav.

Johnny Depp in 'Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales'

For the film 'Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales', the makers turned back the clock to portray Johnny Depp as a young Jack Sparrow. According to reports, a body double was used as a reference point for the star's youthful image, but the performance was all Depp.

Brad Pitt in 'Benjamin Button'

To convincingly chronicle the life of a man who aged in reverse, 'Benjamin Button' director David Fincher turned to technology to age and de-age Brad Pitt. From a wrinkly and bald old man to a hottie in his 20s the makers used a system called Contour, and classic digital manipulation to take Pitt through time.

Actors didnt use CGI, the directors probaby took the decision and Skilled CGI technicians made it happen. Stop crediting actors for everything, most of them are dumb when it comes to technology.
