Sheena Chohan on Arts Ambassador Award: Human stories have the power to connect people across borders
Actress Sheena Chohan, who has worked across Hindi, Bengali, Telugu, Tamil and international productions and has been part of projects such as Sant Tukaram, Ant Story, Ex Mates, The Trial and The Fame Game, has been honoured with the Arts Ambassador Award for Global Artistic and Cultural Impact at the Florida Arts Summit. The recognition acknowledges artistes whose work has contributed to cultural representation and storytelling across different platforms and regions.
Reacting to the honour, Sheena said, “I’m honoured and grateful to receive the Arts Ambassador Award for Global Artistic and Cultural Impact. As an actress, I’ve always believed cinema and storytelling go far beyond entertainment. They have the ability to shape culture, build empathy and create meaningful conversations through human stories that connect people across borders.”
She added, “Through my films and the roles I continue to take on, I hope to contribute to stories that are culturally relevant and emotionally honest. Every character is an opportunity to reflect something real about society, emotion and the human experience. The biggest human rights issue facing women in India is safety, and the way to change that is through equality, respect and education.”
Apart from acting, Sheena serves as the South Asia Ambassador for United for Human Rights. She has been associated with awareness campaigns alongside artistes including Preity Zinta, Sonakshi Sinha, Guneet Monga, Imtiaz Ali, Sonu Sood, Nandita Das, Revathi and Parvathy. Her work in the field of human rights education has also been recognised internationally. The award was presented at the Florida Arts Summit, which brings together artistes, cultural leaders and members of the creative community.
