Patriotic films to look forward to in 2019

Movies have been instrumental in bringing about social change and evoke the feeling of patriotism with its strong and powerful content and great performances. When we say patriotic, it not only the ones related to war stories and independent struggles, it includes a wide variety of subjects like stories of some unsung heroes, stories of acts that have made the nation proud and so on. Here we give you a rundown of films that are all set to invoke a sense of pride in you with regard to your country’s rich history and culture.

‘Uri: The Surgical Strike’

Makers of ‘Uri: The Surgical Strike’ are all set to bring to the audience a chapter from a very recent incident that took place in our country. Following the roguish terrorist attacks at Uri Army Basecamp in Kashmir, India takes the fight to the enemy, in its most successful covert operation till date with one and only one objective of avenging their fallen heroes.

The film stars the very talented Vicky Kaushal, Yami Gautam, Paresh Rawal, Mohit Raina and others in pivotal roles. The trailer of the film has its fans waiting for the film with bated breaths.

Directed by Aditya Dhar, the movie is all set to hit the theatres on January 11, 2019.

‘Batla House’

After some of his stunning performances in films like ‘Parmanu: The Story of Pokhran’ and ‘Satyameva Jayate’, actor John Abraham is all set to impress the audience with his performance once again with his upcoming film ‘Batla House’.

The film is based on the real-life infamous Batla House encounter that took place in Delhi. Officially known as, Operation Batla House, the incident took place on September 19, 2008.

The Nikkhil Advani directorial stars John Abraham in the lead and is all set to hit the theatres on August 15, 2019.

‘Saare Jahan Se Achha’

The biopic of Indian Astronaut Rakesh Sharma has been in the news for quite some time now. While the name of Aamir Khan has been going around, reports are now rife that the role will be now played by none other than Shah Rukh Khan. Apart from Shah Rukh, the movie will reportedly feature Bhumi Pednekar as the female lead.

Earlier, along with Aamir, the name of Priyanka Chopra was floating. The actress had also reportedly confirmed the same, stating that she was approached for the film when Aamir was doing it.

The film, which has been tentatively named as, ‘Saare Jahan Se Achha’ will require SRK to get accustomed to extreme conditions as part of prep for the movie. The film is expected to go on floors this year.

Vikram Batra biopic

Sidharth Malhotra is all set to reprise the role of Kargil martyr Vikram Batra in his upcoming biopic. The film is based on the life of Captain Vikram Batra, who died in the Kargil war of 1999, which was fought between India and Pakistan.

The actor, who is currently preparing for his character had reportedly said that it is one of the toughest characters he has ever played. He also added that it is a big responsibility for him as late Vikram’s family had found him fit to portray the Kargil martyr.

Although this will be the first time that Sidharth will be seen doing a biopic, it is not the first time that Vikram, Batra’s character is being portrayed on the silver screen. Earlier, Abhishek Bachchan had played his character in ‘LOC Kargil’.
