Kartik Aaryan's 'Shehzada', Salman Khan's 'Kisi Ka Bhai Kisi Ki Jaan', Prabhas' 'Adipurush': 5 films that failed to impress the audience in the first half of 2023

The year 2023 started with a bang with the release of Shah Rukh Khan starrer 'Pathaan', which was one of the most anticipated films in Bollywood. Following this, many films were released with high hopes mounting on them. However, very few were successful in impressing the audience while others proved to be a disaster. From Kartik Aaryan starrer 'Shehzada' to Prabhas' 'Adipurush', here we take a look at films that tanked at the box office in the first half of 2023.

'Adipurush'

Despite receiving criticism from the audience for its teaser and trailer, makers of 'Adipurush' released the film amidst much fanfare. However, it received massive backlash after the release owing to its cringe-worthy dialogues and VFX. Fans also accused the film of 'disrespecting the epic Ramayana'. The film starred Prabhas, Kriti Sanon, Sunny Singh and Saif Ali Khan in lead roles.

'Kisi Ka Bhai Kisi Ki Jaan'

Salman Khan's 'Kisi Ka Bhai Kisi Ki Jaan' was one of the biggest films of the year and was also one of the most-awaited ones. The film created a lot of hype owing to the debut of popular young actors like Shehnaaz Gill and Palak Tiwari. It also starred South superstars like Venkatesh Daggubati and Jagapathi Babu. However, it all came crashing down when the film was released. It received mixed reviews from the audience and the critics alike.

'Bholaa'

Ajay Devgn's directorial 'Bholaa' is an official remake of Tamil movie Kaithi from 2019. Although the storyline was similar, Ajay incorporated some unique action sequences to make it more entertaining for the audience. However, the film failed to attract the audience to the cinema halls. It also starred Tabu in a key role.

'Selfiee'

After his last film, 'Ram Setu', which was a disaster at the box office, Akshay Kumar's release this year, 'Selfiee' also failed to impress the audience. The film, which was an official Hindi remake of 2019 Malayalam film 'Driving Licence', also starred Emraan Hashmi in the lead role. It also featured Diana Penty and Nushrratt Bharuccha in key roles.

'Shehzada'

Kartik Aaryan and Kriti Sanon starrer 'Shehzada' was promoted amidst huge fanfare. Fans expected highly from Kartik, especially after the super success of 'Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2'. However, the film failed to impress the audience at the box office. It received mixed reactions from the critics too. 'Shehzada' is an official Hindi remake of Allu Arjun starrer, 'Alla Vaikunthapurramuloo'.
