11 Unanswered questions in the Sushant Singh Rajput death case

The search for the truth behind the demise of Bollywood actor Sushant Singh Rajput just seems to be getting murkier by the day. Two months into the investigations and it seems like the list of people seemingly involved with this case only grows by the hour.

In his FIR, Sushant’s father KK Singh levied serious allegations against Rhea Chakraborty, her family and two other on grounds of abetment to suicide besides other serious charges. The Mumbai Police who began their investigations in the matter on June 14, has been taking into account “all angles” be it personal, professional, financial and even the possibility of foul play.

The surprising twists and turns the case has been taking even saw the Bihar Police make a brief appearance before bowing out to make way for the CBI to step in and take charge.

The Centre also seems to be stepping into this highly publicised case. Besides accepting the Bihar Government’s plea for a CBI probe on the matter, the Centre even moved the Supreme Court seeking to make itself a party to Rhea’s plea for transferring the FIR lodged against her in Patna to Mumbai.

While there have been countless updates, there is no denying that two months down the line, some questions in the Sushant Singh Rajput death case still remained unanswered.

We can all agree to disagree on various debates and discussions on the Sushant Singh Rajput case, but can we all confirm that the actor had mental health issues, to begin with? While at one point Sushant’s father claimed to have had “no idea” about his son dealing with any such issue, several psychiatrists, close associates, and of late, even the Singh family’s Whatsapp group conversations have made rather contradictory statements.

Shortly after Sushant Singh, Rajput’s death went public, initial reports claimed that the actor was partying it up the night before his suicide. Reports even alleged that the building association heads had a problem with his late-night parties and wanted him out of the house. However, later reports seemed to suggest that the actor was not hosting any party owing to the COVID-19 lockdown restrictions.

Among the many wild rumours and conspiracy theories that have crept up online is one that places politician Aditya Thackeray at Sushant’s party. The curious case of the CCTV camera footage had done little to counter this claim, provided that there indeed was a party, to begin with.

Reports of a feud between Sooraj Pancholi and Sushant Singh Rajput shortly after the actor’s demise. The rumours alleged that Rajput "misbehaved" with Sooraj at a bash and it didn't go down too well with mentor Salman Khan. Reports suggested that Salman called SSR to give him a piece of his mind, post which it is believed that the 'MS Dhoni' star apologized and swore not to repeat it again. Although the incident occurred years ago, the resurfacing of the matter got both Salman and Sooraj entangled in some strange conspiracy theories alleging a ‘murder’ and a ‘cover-up’.

Two months may be a long time, but it is still not long enough to answer what drove SSR to take the tragic step. Those following the case will know of the ‘nepotism’, ‘Bollywood mafia’, ‘favouritism’, ‘lack of work’ and other such reasons were initially rumoured to be the things that prompted the actor to take his life. However, over the past weeks, it seems like these theories have been put to rest. For the time being at least.

With Sushant Singh Rajput’s father KK Singh naming Rhea Chakraborty and 5 others as primary suspects in his FIR to the Patna police, doesn't it make you wonder why Bollywood biggies like Karan Johar, Sanjay Leela Bhansali, Mahesh Bhatt, Aditya Chopra and many others were dragged into this case? In fact, Singh in his statement even alleged that the Mumbai cops were taking their investigation in a ‘different direction’ prompting him to approach the Bihar police.

Even though investigations in the matter are still on, the details revealed thus far seem to claim that Sushant’s death had no connection to his former manager Disha Salian who died after falling from her high rise Mumbai apartment. Despite the manager’s family repeatedly denying any link between the two, this is one question that many can’t quite seem to shake off.

Sushant Singh Rajput’s personal diaries and the content they hold have come back into the spotlight after it was revealed that certain pages were “ripped out”. Will it ever be proved that the diary was “tampered” with or was it just Sushant who tore off the pages? Conspiracy theorists, on the other hand, beg to differ and suggest that it could have even been a third party trying to cover up something.

As far as the FIR against Rhea Chakraborty goes, the tangible ‘evidence’ that anyone can find at this moment is the alleged disappearance of Rs 15 crore from Sushant’s account. Interestingly, while the father claims the actor had Rs 15 crore, a former manager of the actor alleged he saw the books and noted that SSR had Rs 30 crore in his account back in January 2019 while SSR's CA mentioned that he had only around Rs 2-3 crore.

Much has been said and written about how Rhea and the Chakraborty family allegedly took over Sushant Singh Rajput's businesses and about him giving them access to his finances, but what caused this major change? While the Singhs have alleged that Rhea cut SSR off from his family, the kind of relationship they shared with him has not been really been addressed till date.

Steve Huff’s video allegedly connecting with Sushant Singh Rajput’s spirit went viral in little to no time at all. While some believed it, others rubbished it, but one thing’s for sure, no one could really ignore the video. Although Huff put forth some interesting questions for SSR’s spirit, fans and “believers” never really got the answers they patiently waited for.
