Jurassic World: 5 lessons to learn from the film

Jurassic World is the sequel to the 1993 American science fiction adventure film, Jurassic Park, directed by Steven Spielberg. The sequel is in every manner, bigger and better, than the earlier part. The dinosaurs are scarier and the rides are merrier. However, in essence, the film remains the same. And at the end of the carnage wrought upon by the genetically engineered Indominus Rex, the wisdom of the ages echoes. While, you must have skipped it, blinded by the VFX-aided frames, here's summing up the lessons that the film had to offer. Ponder over this...

Things change and so should perspectives: While actors are known to make comebacks and much is written about their first film post the hiatus, T-Rex's return was very low-key. Perhaps he wanted to keep the surprise element intact. The big, evil Tyrannosaurus from Jurassic Park makes an appearance in Jurassic World and steals the thunder from the seemingly indomitable dino. He is the good guy here as he fights down the bad guy and leads to a happy ending. Considering that he was the one who wreaked havoc in the film's first part, it is good to see that 20 years in rehab did the trick and turned him into the saviour.

Don't feed your fears: When the task in front of you is gargantuan and scares you to bits, it is time to pull up your socks and get into the action mode. History is replete with examples of how fear has motivated humans to perform to their optimum best. So face you fears just like the characters from Jurassic World do. Instead of running away from the scary dinos, the characters run to them. Not only do they tackle their fear, they also mange to overcome it, thus emerging victorious at the end.

Nothing is in your control: Humans take pride in exerting control over everything on the Earth. We want to discipline the unruly and tame the wild. Such is our obsession with order, that we term seemingly magical things as mere coincidence. However, control is just an illusion or so claims the film. Order is just an assurance of safety but it is hardly effective. The film urges you to stop trying to be in control all the time. Like Irrfan's character, Simon Masrani puts it, 'Nothing is in our control.' His words seem to ring true when the film concludes.

Sometimes birds of different feather also flock together: While the dog is a man's best friend, dinos, too, seem to have befriended the humans. At least in Jurassic World they have. Owen trains dinosaurs but he has also developed a bond with them. And while his raptors do turn on him once, they are his loyal, trusted aides and return to be by his side when he needs them. They fight against the Indominus Rex, even though the dino is part raptor and technically, one of their own.

Technology is no match for nature: Technology might allow you to engineer dinosaurs in the laboratory but it will never surpass the beauty of evolution. Dinosaurs, that went extinct years ago, return from the dead to haunt the living but since they were missing from the chain for so long, neither humans nor the other animals are equipped to deal with them. While recreating extinct species might be revolutionary in scientific terms, it is an anthropological horror. The film highlights this with much fanfare and the message hits home.
