Bengali film songs that topped the charts in January

The year 2020 started with some exciting new songs from Bengali films. Be it ‘Je Kawta Din’ reprise, Abar ‘Phire Ele’ from ‘Baishey Srabon’ or the love balad ‘Kon Gopone’ from ‘Brahma Janen Gopon Kommoti’, it was a musical treat for the fans in January. Here are the five most popular Bengali film songs which topped the charts last month.

2/6

‘Je Kawta Din’ reprise from ‘Dwitiyo Purush’

The love ballad, the sweetest romantic melody ‘Je Kawta Din’ has made a sensational comeback with the reprise version in Srijit Mukherji’s upcoming thriller ‘Dwitiyo Purush’, a spin off to ‘Baishe Srabon’.

Anupam Roy maintains the exact composition with a few added lyrics to match the current situation in ‘Dwitiyo Purush’. This time, the playback sees National Award-winning singer Iman Chakraborty joining Anupam for the romantic melody and both of them renders the song excellently.

The music video captures the journey of the protagonists Abhijit and Amrita, played by Parambrata Chattopadhyay and Raima Sen. It encapsulates the period of 9 years between ‘Baishe Shrabon’ to ‘Dwitiyo Purush’. It also gives a sneak peek into their disturbed married life. Abhijit’s obsession with his work develops a huge gap between them and the song captures this void in their life through some melancholic flashbacks.

3/6

‘Kon Gopone’ from ‘Brahma Janen Gopon Kommoti’

The soulful melody ‘Kon Gopone’ from Aritra Mukherjee’s debut directorial ‘Brahma Janen Gopon Kommoti’ will surely tug at your heartstrings. It’s a sweet melody nicely written and composed by none other than Anindya Chatterjee. Whenever Anindya has joined hands with Windows Productions, producers of this film, he has churned out melodious hits that leave lasting impression on our minds. Kon Gopone is no exception as well. The catchy helps to connect with the song from the very first listening. Surangana Bandopadhyay’s soothing voice adds a refreshing touch to the song.

4/6

‘Abar Phire Ele’ from ‘Dwitiyo Purush’

Another emotionally charged up song ‘Abar Phire Ele’ from Srijit Mukherji’s ‘Dwitiyo Purush’, a sequel to ‘Baishey Srabon’. It’s a romantic song celebrating the return of your loved one to your mandane life after an agonizingly rough phase. Written and composed by Anupam Roy, it’s again a culmination of some powerful touching words. It’s like a strong sense of déjà vu. Plus, Arijit Singh’s soulful voice uplifts the song in a great way. The music video shows the passionate chemistry between the lead pair Parambrata Chattopadhyay and Raima Sen. It also introduces another romantic pair from the film, Gaurav Chakrabarty and Ridhima Ghosh. The real-life couple channels their adorable chemistry to the celluloid as well.

5/6

'Tumi Jodi Chao' from ‘Dharmajuddha’

The first song 'Tumi Jodi Chao' from Raj Chakraborty’s next ‘Dharmajuddha’ is a melodious romantic track from none other than Indraadip Dasgupta. Shreya Ghoshal’s soulful rendition also does full justice to the lyrics by Ritam Sen. You would get to see Subhasree Ganguly as Munni and her husband, played by Saptarshi Maulik in the song as the on-screen couple enjoys pure marital bliss, with the anticipation of welcoming their offspring.

Indraadip has beautifully turned the simple lyrics into a musical treat infusing the perfect amount of melody into the tune. The composition is quite difficult but Shreya Ghoshal’s effortless singing results in a smooth rendition that syncs well with the rustic and humble lifestyle of Munni and her husband.

6/6

‘Tui Chol’ from ‘Brahma Janen Gopon Kommoti’

‘Tui Chol’ pays tribute to each and every woman’s journey and who never succumb to the hurdles in their lives. The song also salutes the indomitable spirit of women and Anindya Chatterjee’s lyrics aptly sum up that theme. Somlata Achharya’s soulful voice makes the song more special. In the video we can see the protagonist played by Ritabhari Chakraborty on a winning spree breaking the barriers and setting up her own goals. She is a perfect home maker and at the same time is a successful priest. We all know this occupation is always associated with men but being a female priest she sets an example and makes it clear she won’t go by the rules.
