What if ‘Brahmastra’ was made in Tollywood!

‘Brahmastra’ revolves around the lord of Astras – Brahmastra. ‘Brahmastra: Part One - Shiva, the first of the trilogy, is also the beginning of a new cinematic universe, Astraverse in a modern world, taking inspiration from Indian history and mythology with elements of fantasy, adventure and drama. The Ayan Mukerji-directorial with its ensemble cast including Ranbir Kapoor, Alia Bhatt, Amitabh Bachchan, Mouni Roy, Nagarjuna Akkineni, Shah Rukh Khan and others, is surely one of the most-talked about Bollywood films in recent times. The cast itself can attract any cine lover to the action-adventure flick. What if ‘Brahmastra’ was made in Tollywood? What would have been the star cast? Who would have been the director? Any thoughts? Well, we have tried to make it easy for you. Read on and see whether your favourite actor is on the list!

Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt’s ‘Brahmastra’ gets a thumbs up in Bengal despite negative words

2/7

Ranbir Kapoor’s Shiva – Dev

In the epic Astraverse film, Ranbir plays the protagonist Shiva who can awaken the Brahmastra. Shiva is a DJ who unknowingly has the extraordinary power. Since it is large scale commercial potboiler and action entertainer we decided to choose our Tollywood superstar Dev as Shiva who also possesses the power of Agnyāstra, the astra of the fire element.

3/7

Alia Bhatt’s Isha – Koel Mallick

Alia, Ranbir’s wife in real life, plays the role of his on-screen love interest as well. Given the commercial hits the superhit Dev-Koel pair has delivered in the past it would be great if we see them reuniting for this VFX-heavy entertainer. Since fans have long been waiting to see the pair returning for another movie and their stellar on-screen chemistry let’s cast Koel as Isha, the love interest of Shiva.

4/7

Amitabh Bachchan’s Guru – Tota Roy Choudhury

Amitabh Bachchan is the Guru who mentors Ranbir’s character in the film. The megastar’s character is also the leader of the Brahmānsh who wields the Prabhāstra. We decided to go for the versatile actor Tota Roy Choudury for the important role. It would be great to see Tota slipping into his elderly version with some impressive prosthetic makeup.

5/7

Mouni Roy’s Junoon – Paoli Dam

Mouni Roy is the Queen of Darkness in Ayan Mukerji’s ‘Brahmastra’. She plays Junoon, who is on a hunt for the Brahmastra, but for evil purposes. It would be a great surprise if we can see Paoli in a character with negative shades. We haven’t seen this powerhouse actor as an antagonist that much.

6/7

Nagarjuna Akkineni’s Anish – Abir Chatterjee

The superstar Nagarjuna Akkineni plays Anish, an artist and a member of the Brahmānsh who wields the Nandi Astra. Anish is also one of the protectors of Brahmastra. Despite a small screen presence we would love to see our very own Abir Chatterjee taking the important character which plays a key role in the narrative despite a relatively small screen presence.

7/7

Shah Rukh Khan’s scientist – Jeet

Shah Rukh Khan plays the cameo role of a scientist who wields the Vānarāstra. And we picked the handsome hunk Jeet for such an impactful character despite being a cameo. It will also be great to see Dev and Jeet coming together after a long time since ‘Dui Prithibi’.

But Tollywood will not have the budget to produce a movie of such scale. We can still create excellent cinema just by our art, as story and screenplay triumphs VFX any day. We lack quality filmmakers in Tollywood nowadays.
