Soumitra Chatterjee’s daughter performs puja in memory of her father
It has been three days since Soumitra Chatterjee passed away and on Tuesday, his daughter Poulami Bose conducted a ritual service remembering her father. The puja took place at a math in south Kolkata. “This place is very quiet and full of greenery. I am really at peace to be able to perform the ritual here. My father had little faith in such rituals. However, since it had to be done anyway, we tried to perform it at a venue that he would love to be in. This place is so peaceful that even I am feeling calm after that constant stress I was in,” Poulami told us. Only the family members and Soumitra’s theatre group Mukhomukhi members were present at the do. Later, the family will host the memorial service rituals. “That my dada, Sougata Chatterjee, will conduct later,” Poulami said. Meanwhile, there will be a memorial meeting that the members of Mukhomukhi will host. There are talks that the state government might also host a condolence meeting. Soumitra Chatterjee passed away on Sunday after battling Covid-related ailments for almost 40 days at a city hospital. He was 85. He is survived by his wife, Deepa Chatterjee, daughter Poulami and son, Sougata.
