DEHRADUN: In the assembly polls, several Congress leaders and their supporters went against the party line by contesting as candidates or supporting others. It was a major issue which was raised in Thursday’s

Congress state committee

meeting, which was the first one after the polls.

Majority of the candidates, who attended the important meeting, were of the view that the party needs to show the door to those who did not stand by the party candidates during the elections.

The Congress has already shown the door to as many as 100 party members and the district heads of all 13 districts have already been instructed to prepare list of such workers. Out of the list, majority of the expelled party members are from

Sahaspur constituency

from where Congress state chief

Kishore Upadhyay

was given ticket in place of

Aryendra Sharma

– who was party nominee in the 2012 polls.

Giving the information, Congress state chief Kishore Upadhyay said that there is no space for people who are a part of the party only for personal gains. “Such people, be it those who are still in the party or joined another political outfit will get a befitting reply on March 11 – the day on which results will be declared,” said the state Congress chief.

In the presence of CM Harish Rawat, the party legislators and other senior reviewed the party performance. “There is no doubting our victory in Uttarakhand and we will win around 45 seats in the 70-member House,” said Upadhyay.
