In Madurai East, S Karthikeyan of TVK secured a notable victory, polling 1,18,777 votes and defeating DMK’s P Moorthy by a margin of 16,547 votes. AIADMK’s K Mahendran finished a distant third with 31,016 votes, as the constituency swung in favour of TVK.
