Bihar polls: Nitish Kumar govt approves medical colleges in 7 districts; announces Rs 20k cr women job scheme

The Bihar cabinet has approved the establishment of government medical colleges in seven districts, ensuring each of the state's 38 districts has at least one. Additionally, the cabinet sanctioned ₹20,000 crore for the "Mukhya Mantri Mahila Rozgar Yojana," providing ₹10,000 to one woman per family for entrepreneurship.

PATNA: Bihar cabinet on Tuesday gave its nod to open government-run medical colleges in seven districts of the state. The seven districts are Kishanganj, Katihar, Rohtas, Sheohar, Lakhisarai, Arwal and Sheikhpura. With this, Bihar will have at least one medical college in its all 38 districts. The cabinet also sanctioned Rs 20,000 crore to roll out "Mukhya Mantri Mahila Rozgar Yojana" under which one woman of every family will be given Rs 10,000 to start a business of her own choice.
The whopping amount of Rs 20,000 will be made available from the Bihar Contingency Fund and the finance department as per requirement.The cabinet also gave its nod for creation of 3,233 new posts in different departments.A total of 48 decisions were taken at a cabinet meeting chaired by chief minister Nitish Kumar.Cabinet Secretariat Department’s Additional Chief Secretary Arvind Kumar Chaudhary told reporters here in a post cabinet briefing.
