GATE 2026 exam concluded: When will IIT Guwahati release the answer key?
The Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) 2026 has concluded across multiple centres in India. The national-level entrance exam was conducted by IIT Guwahati this year for admission to postgraduate engineering programmes and recruitment in public sector undertakings. Candidates who appeared for the exam are now waiting for the provisional answer key.
The answer key will help them calculate their probable scores before the final results are announced. IIT Guwahati is expected to release the GATE 2026 answer key soon on the official website. Once released, candidates will also be allowed to raise objections within a given deadline by paying a prescribed fee per question.
The GATE 2026 examination was conducted by the Indian Institute of Technology Guwahati (IIT Guwahati). The institute will publish the provisional answer key on the official GATE Online Application Processing System (GOAPS) portal.
Based on previous years’ trends, the provisional answer key is usually released within a few days after the completion of the exam. Along with the answer key, the response sheets of candidates will also be uploaded. This allows candidates to match their recorded responses with the official answers.
After reviewing objections submitted by candidates, IIT Guwahati will release the final answer key. The GATE 2026 result will be prepared on the basis of the final answer key.
After the release of the provisional answer key, the candidates will be given a certain time to raise objections against any answer they think is incorrect. In order to raise an objection, the candidates have to provide supporting documents along with the fee for each question they want to challenge.
Subject experts will review all objections. If any challenge is found valid, the answer key will be revised. The final answer key will then be published on the official website. No further objections will be accepted after the deadline.
Candidates are advised to regularly check the official website for updates regarding the answer key, objection dates and result announcement.
Candidates can follow these steps to download the answer key once it is released:
