VMC issues notices to YSRCP MP’s daughter

Visakhapatnam: A week after the GVMC demolished a compound wall on Bheemunipatnam beach, the civic body issued a formal notice to Avyaan Relators, belonging to Penaka Neha Reddy, daughter of YSRCP MP Vijaya Sai Reddy. The notice required Neha Reddy to submit ownership documents, detailed survey records of the site, the latest encumbrance certificate, and proof of any prior approvals from the local authorities.In its notice to Avyaan Relators, the GVMC highlighted the presence of an existing building on the premises. GVMC demanded a copy of the building plans, tax receipts, and electricity bills. Failure to comply with the notice would result in legal actio, said the GVMC in the notice. According to GVMC officials, the unauthorised RCC concrete wall was demolished on Sept 4, with police protection to ensure law and order during the operation. In response to the situation, the Vizag district collector convened a meeting with key officials and issued oral instructions during the meeting to collect documents to verify ownership rights of the disputed property.

GVMC shifts its focus to unassessed properties

The Greater Visakhapatnam Municipal Corporation aims to include 10,000 unassessed properties in the tax net this year and has already identified 4,600. GVMC's property tax collection for the fiscal year 2023-24 reached Rs 457 crore, surpassing its target of Rs 420 crore. Efforts are ongoing to address underassessed properties and vacant land taxes.

The MP high court has issued notices to the state government, animal husbandry department, NHAI, and Tikamgarh collector after a petition by Swami Dev Swaroopanand. The petition demands action against those allowing cows to roam freely, leading to accidents and suffering. It also advocates for creating cow parks.
