Vijayawada: The Andhra Pradesh high court on Thursday directed the police to produce Vijayawada resident Gade Sai Krishna before the court on June 15 while hearing a habeas corpus petition filed by his mother. A division bench comprising Justices K Suresh Reddy and Hari Hara Nadha Sharma issued the order after hearing arguments in the case.
According to the petition, Sai Krishna, a resident of Krishnalanka in Vijayawada, has several criminal cases registered against him. His mother, Vijayalakshmi, approached the high court alleging that Krishnalanka police took her son into custody from Markapuram, where he had been residing for some time, but did not produce him before a lower court.
Seeking the court’s intervention, she filed a habeas corpus petition requesting directions to trace and produce her son. During the hearing, the petitioner’s counsel, K V Aditya Chowdhury, argued that the family has received no information regarding Sai Krishna’s whereabouts and expressed concern over his safety.
The counsel told the court that the petitioner was uncertain whether her son was alive and sought immediate action from the authorities. Taking note of the submissions, the high court directed the police to produce Sai Krishna before the bench on June 15.
