Minor boy accused of raping 8-yr-old girl detained in Chittor

Udaipur: in Chittorgarh district on Saturday detained a minor for allegedly raping an on March 14. According to Begun DSP Anjali Singh, the 8-year-old girl had gone with her grandmother to get water from a water tank near her home in a village under Begun police station area. When the girl was following her grandmother back home with a vessel of water, the accused kidnapped her and took her on a bike two kilometres away to a forested area, where he raped her and left her lying there.Police had the girl medically examined at Chittorgarh district hospital. The accused, who is about 15 years old, had been absconding since the incident. He was detained on Saturday afternoon, said Singh. Local people from the Sarv Samaj took out a rally on Saturday and submitted a memorandum to the SDM in the name of the chief minister demanding that the rape case be heard in a fast-track court and the accused be given death sentence. The Begun Bar association has refused to represent the accused.
