CM promises world-class edu centres in Kerala
Thiruvananthapuram: The state govt is moving forward with steps to set up world-class educational institutions and courses in the state to realize the dreams of the new generation, said chief minister V D Satheesan on Monday. He was inaugurating the state-level launch of the ‘Padom 1 Puthuyuga Vidyalayam - School Admission Festival’ organized by the department of general education and Samagra Shiksha Kerala at Pattom Govt Girls Higher Secondary School.
Sharing his nostalgic childhood memories, the CM recalled walking to the school in the rain. Parents have big dreams for their children’s education. The contribution of mothers in Kerala to educational progress is significant, he said and urged teachers and parents to develop a friendly relationship between them for the encouragement of children’s talents through mutual sharing. Identifying and nurturing each child’s interests and abilities from a young age was a joint responsibility of parents and teachers, he said.
The CM shared an experience from a school in London where a student’s extrodinary mathematical ability was identified and communicated to the parents. “Identifying and nurturing each child’s unique talent is a primary mission of the educational system. The world is going through an era of knowledge explosion, and in a situation where new knowledge is formed every moment, students should cultivate an inquisitive mindset. In the age of artificial intelligence, the curiosity to acquire knowledge is the foundation of life’s success,” he said.
The CM said ‘Centers of Scientific Temper’ will be established to foster scientific awareness and rational thinking in society.
Satheesan also called for vigilance from students, parents and society in the fight against drugs. He extended his best wishes for a prosperous academic year to all students. The academic calendar for this year was also released by the CM. Minister of general education N Samsudheen presided over the event. Health and devaswom minister K Muraleedharan and mayor V V Rajesh were also present.
