Ranchi: CBI sleuths arrested the branch manager of a public sector bank in Godda district on Monday for allegedly demanding bribes amounting to Rs 77,000 to process a claim under Pradhan Mantri Jeevan Jyoti Bima Yojana and removing the curbs on withdrawal from a bank account, the agency said on Tuesday.
The accused, identified as Rohit Kumar Singh, was posted in Dumaria branch of the bank.
CBI added that the accused had demanded a bribe of Rs 60,000 for processing the claims under the insurance scheme amounting to Rs 2 lakh pertaining to the complainant’s deceased mother.
