2 held for gang rape of teen in Jamtara
Dumka: Two men were arrested in Jamtara district on Friday for allegedly abducting a 17-year-old intermediate student from her house and raping her at a nearby riverbank on the intervening night of Thursday and Friday. She hails from a marginal farmer’s family.
Following a complaint lodged on Friday, police arrested the two accused, both in their 20s and hailing from the same village as that of the girl, police said on Saturday.
The accused allegedly entered the girl’s house while she was asleep in the courtyard, threatened her and abducted her. After the crime, the accused left her unconscious on the riverbank and fled. In the morning, after gaining consciousness, she returned home and narrated her ordeal to her family, following which a complaint was filed at the local police station.
“She was taken to hospital for medical examination and treatment, where her condition is being monitored. Both the accused have been sent to custody,” officer Pradip Kumar said.
