Tribal hamlets to city grids, power network gets boost: CSPDCL Invests 1,502 Crore, Adds Over 1.6 Lakh Connections
Chhattisgarh recorded major expansion in its power network during the 2025–26 financial year, with the Chhattisgarh State Power Distribution Company Limited (CSPDCL) investing over Rs 1,502.86 crore in infrastructure to add consumers and widen access for domestic, agricultural, and commercial users across the state. Over the year, CSPDCL energised 17,184 agricultural pumps, supporting assured irrigation for farmers, lowering input costs, and improving crop yields. The utility also streamlined application processes to release more than 1.61 lakh new electricity connections, enabling faster power supply for new households, commercial establishments, and small-scale industries.
In urban areas, the company carried out hundreds of upgrade works focused on power-line optimisation, transformer installation, and network overhauls, reducing voltage fluctuations and cable faults to stabilise city grids. To meet rising demand, the state expanded its 33 kV, 11 kV, and Low Tension (LT) networks and installed backup transformers to strengthen supply capacity.
Special electrification drives extended connectivity to 92 villages and 146 hamlets, while infrastructure development in tribal areas brought power to 19,641 households. Under the PM-JANMAN initiative, CSPDCL achieved 100% electrification of 492 households from particularly vulnerable tribal groups (PVTGs) in hard-to-reach locations, supporting education, healthcare, and local economic activity.
To improve supply quality under the Revamped Distribution Sector Scheme (RDSS), the utility executed technical works worth Rs 785.56 crore, including feeder segregation, load management, transformer additions, and replacement of thousands of kilometres of LT lines and cables, reducing tripping and load-shedding and ensuring more stable voltage for homes and businesses.
