Chancellor releases uniform academic calendar for all state universities
Patna: The Governor’s Secretariat on Saturday released a uniform academic calendar for four-year undergraduate programmes across all universities in the state.
Releasing the calendar, governor-cum-chancellor Syed Ata Hasnain directed vice-chancellors to ensure its implementation to bring uniformity in academic activities and support effective rollout of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020. He said VCs must enforce the calendar “in letter and spirit” so that teaching, examinations, evaluation and publication of results are conducted uniformly across universities.
The calendar will apply to the current academic session (2026–27) and all upcoming sessions, facilitating the implementation of multiple-entry and multiple-exit provisions. It will also help maintain coordination between state and central universities, he added.
The chancellor allowed a deviation of up to one week in exceptional circumstances such as holidays or festivals, to be decided by the vice-chancellor. Internship for fifth-semester students will be held from June 1 to 30.
As per the calendar, the admission process for Semester I (July–Dec) will run from May 1 to June 30, with classes beginning July 1. Mid-semester exams will be held from Sept 11 to 16, classes will end on Nov 20, practical exams from Nov 20 to 26, and end-semester exams from Nov 27 to Dec 16. Results will be announced on Jan 10.
For Semesters II, IV, VI and VIII (Jan–June), admissions will be completed in Jan, with classes starting on January 4. Mid-semester exams will be held from March 15 to 20, classes will conclude on April 30, and end-semester exams will be conducted from May 1 to 24. Results will be declared on June 20.
The schedule for Semesters III, V and VII (July–Dec) will follow the same pattern as Semester I.
