Ghaziabad: A 22-year-old woman who walked into MMG Hospital to get her blood pressure checked on Wednesday allegedly brandished a knife and created a ruckus when she was asked to wait a few minutes. Police detained her but later she was let go as her family claimed that she suffers from mental health issues.
A senior official from the hospital said she came to the hospital at 12 noon and demanded her blood pressure be checked. As there was a rush of patients in the emergency ward, she was told to wait for five minutes, but she started demanding that a female physician should check her immediately. She started arguing with the staff and threatening them with a knife.
In a 49-second video, the woman can be seen pushing chairs and tossing files from the table. Doctors and staff members can be seen visibly terrorised by the incident. Security personnel snatched the knife from her hand and brought the situation under control.
The hospital administration sent the footage to the police. Kotwali SHO Sachin Kumar dispatched a team immediately and took the woman into custody for questioning. “We contacted her family and they revealed that she is mentally disturbed. Her treatment is underway at a private hospital in Delhi. After taking a look at her medical records, we handed her over to the family,” he said.
