Big Push For Kumbh 2027: Nashik civic body clears 9 new road projects worth Rs 298.5 crore
Nashik: The civic body has issued work orders to the contractors concerned for nine new road projects worth Rs 295.5 crore as a part of its Rs 1,270 crore Kumbh Mela road network development plan. The works are all to be completed by March 2027, ahead of the Simhastha Kumbh Mela scheduled to start later in 2027.Earlier, around two months ago, the administration of the Nashik Municipal Corporation (NMC) had issued work orders to the contractors for 19 road projects worth Rs 950 crore through the tender process. NMC has already started utility works on these 19 roads, and actual road works will be started by the end of March. The civic body has set a March 15 deadline for various departments and govt agencies to complete utility service works on these roads. All the agencies will have to complete the works following which the civic body will start the road development works.
The second phase, of nine road projects, includes asphalting of the road from Agar Takli STP bridge to Nilgiri Bag to Mumbai-Agra National Highway-3, and concreting of the road from Rasbihari School to Makhmalabad road via Rajsweet Chowk on Dindori Road, RTO office on Peth Road, at a total cost of Rs 130 crore. Other roads are part of existing ring roads in the city.The road from Chandshi bridge to Nandini river bridge, near City Centre Mall, via Jehan Circle and ABB Circle is to be asphalted at the cost of Rs 59.6 crore. White-topping of Shahi Marg is also to be carried out at the cost of Rs 25 crore.White-topping of another road from Mukbai Naka to Gadkari traffic signal to Trimbak Naka, near old Central Bus Stand (CBS), is to be done at a cost of Rs 15 crore. Asphalting of the road from Pimpalgaon Khamb to Vadner Gate is to be done at the cost of Rs 18 crore.The flag-hoisting of the Kumbh Mela is scheduled to be held on Oct 31, 2026. The three major Amrit Snans (holy baths) are to take place between Aug and Sept 2027. Therefore , the Kumbh Mela Authority has set a deadline of March 2027 for the Nashik Municipal Corporation to complete all the road projects.
