Post on netas: HC accepts UK doc’s word to return for probe
Mumbai: Paving the way for UK citizen and YouTuber Sangram Patil to travel back, Bombay high court on Tuesday accepted the undertakings given by him and his parents that he will return to India when required for investigation into certain Facebook posts against some BJP leaders.Justice Ashwin Bhobe said the Feb 24 undertakings by Patil and his Jalgaon-based parents "are accepted as statements and undertakings to this court".On Jan 10, Patil (49), a doctor, was intercepted at Mumbai airport on arrival and later questioned at N M Joshi Marg police station over the Facebook posts. On Jan 19, he was stopped from leaving the country, citing a Dec 18 FIR and a Dec 22 lookout circular (LOC). Patil challenged the LOC and the FIR. On his plea to return to the UK to join his duty, HC on April 15 sought undertakings from Patil and his parents.Advocate general Milind Sathe said the senior police inspector is satisfied with the undertakings and shall modify the LOC, following which Patil "would be able to travel outside India". Sathe said the modification would be communicated to the authorities concerned by May 11. TNN
