NEW DELHI: Mumbai Police have arrested Vinod Lakhan Pal, the primary suspect in the December 29 robbery of gold and silver items worth Rs 1.91 crore from a jewellery shop in Agripada, officials said on Thursday.
The crime branch team located and apprehended Pal in Niwadi district, Madhya Pradesh, on Wednesday night.
Pal, along with another accomplice, entered the shop pretending to be customers, then brandished a gun and knife to overpower the owner and staff. They tied up the victims, assaulted them, and stole the jewellery.
The Agripada police registered a case based on the jeweller’s complaint, while the crime branch launched a parallel investigation. The team reviewed CCTV footage and gathered technical intelligence, which led to tracking Pal's whereabouts.
He is now being brought to Mumbai for further proceedings.
