JEE Advanced 2026 results out: 56,880 qualify, IIT Delhi zone sweeps top 3 ranks
MUMBAI: Of the 1,87,389 candidates who registered for JEE (Advanced) 2026, as many as 1,79,694 appeared for both papers held on May 17. The results, declared on Monday, saw 56,880 candidates qualify for admission to the country's premier engineering institutions.
Among the successful candidates, 10,107 were girls. The top-ranked female candidate this year is Aarohi Deshpande from the IIT Delhi zone, who secured an All India Rank (AIR) of 77 after scoring 280 out of 360 marks.
The overall topper is Shubham Kumar of the IIT Delhi zone, who scored 330 marks out of 360. He was closely followed by Kabeer Chhillar, also from the IIT Delhi zone, with 329 marks. Jatin Chahar, again from the IIT Delhi zone, secured the third rank with 319 marks, as per a press note shared by IIT Roorkee.
The dominance of the IIT Delhi zone was evident, with all three top ranks in the Common Rank List emerging from the region.
This year's qualifying pool represents roughly one-third of those who appeared for the examination, underscoring the highly competitive nature of the gateway test for admission to the Indian Institutes of Technology and other premier engineering institutions.
The Joint Admission Board has urged all qualified candidates to participate in the JoSAA 2026 counselling and seat allocation process, irrespective of their Class XII marks. However, final admission will remain subject to fulfilment of eligibility conditions, including the percentage criteria and other requirements specified in the JEE (Advanced) 2026 Information Brochure.
