Coronavirus: Timings of Delhi government's free disinfection drive for vehicles extended

The Delhi government has decided to conduct its free coronavirus disinfection drive for public service vehicles the "entire day" from Friday in view of a large number of people requesting it. Earlier, the drive was being carried out in two shifts -- 10am to 12pm and 4.30pm to 6.30pm -- at all DTC and cluster depots.

Coronavirus: Quarantine stamping commences at Mangaluru airport

Dakshina Kannada has arranged for KSRTC buses to shift international passengers from Kerala, who are arriving at the Mangaluru International Airport (MIA), from Thursday. A decision in this effect was taken in the wake of a Covid-19 patient travelling from MIA to Kasaragod on March 4. Dakshina Kannada deputy commissioner Sindhu B Rupesh and Kasaragod district collector D Sajith Babu have set up a protocol in this connection, with an aim to prevent the spread of the disease in both districts.

Coronavirus: 50 Maharashtra students stranded in Singapore to return home

At least 50 students from Maharashtra, who were stranded at Changi Airport in Singapore for the last 24 hours, are now being allowed to come to India after the Center allowed entry of a flight from Singapore for landing at Mumbai airport. The students on Thursday evening boarded flight from Changi Airport and they will reach Mumbai airport late in the night.

Karnataka: Kalaburagi clamps down section 144 to fight coronavirus pandemic

The district administration in coronavirus-hit Kalaburagi has now clamped section 144 to restrict people’ gathering in view of checking further spread of the pandemic that is sending panic waves across the nation. For now the section is invoked for three days starting from 8pm today. The decision upon further continuation of the restriction or removal will be taken later assessing the situation.

One more coronavirus positive case reported in Kerala. The patient is from Kasaragod. Total cases in Kerala now 28, including the three cured. 31,000 people are under isolation in homes and hospitals.

The Delhi government on Thursday shut restaurants in the national capital amid the coronavirus outbreak but said that takeaway and home delivery services will continue. "Lieutenant Governor Anil Baijal has asked all government departments, autonomous bodies and PSUs to segregate activities and suspend non-essential services," chief minister Arvind Kejriwal said at a press conference. Non-essential government services will be discontinued from Friday, he added.

Coronavirus scare: BMC orders closure of shops in parts of Mumbai for crowd control

The Brihanmumbai Municipal corporation (BMC) on Thursday ordered the closure of shops on different roads of the city on alternate days till further orders in view of coronavirus pandemic. In exercise of the power conferred under section 2,3 and 4 of the Epidemic Disease Act 1897, the assistant municipal commissioner of BMC has ordered the closure of shops on alternate days of the week in Prabhadevi, Worli and Lower Parel in order to avoid crowding and implement social distancing.
