BMC takes action against four hotels in Mumbai for unauthorised covering of open spaces
Mumbai: The BMC on Tuesday removed extended constructions or unauthorised covering of open space of four hotels in Andheri (W)—Whats Your Bahana, Trove 9, Juliet, and Yazu—after BMC’s additional commissioner Ashwini Joshi directed that strict action was going to be taken against hotels that were using the mandatory open space for the service area and had illegally covered it. The BMC K-West ward removed the extended constructions of hotels in the Veera Desai Marg and New Link Road area.
This action was carried out by a joint team of state departments—health, license, fire, and building and factory. The departments seized 24 chairs, one cooking range, a microwave oven, three coolers, one electric fryer and two speakers. A total of 20 personnel, including ward officers-employees, labourers, and fire brigade staff were deployed during the action. Ward officer Chakrapani Alle said the hotel operators had illegally covered the Compulsory Open Space.
