8 candidates score 100 percentile in Maharashtra MBA/MMS CET
Mumbai: Eight candidates, including two from outside the state, secured a perfect 100 percentile in Maharashtra’s MBA/MMS CET results announced on Monday. Of the eight toppers, two are girls. A total of 1.2 lakh appeared for the first attempt of the exam. More than 3,500 candidates took the exam from outside the state. Results for the second attempt are awaited.
Mumbai’s Shashank Prabhu is the only topper from the city. Shashank, who attempted the exam for the 10th time and bagged the highest score for the eighth time, is an educator and also runs his own coaching institute. “The exam this time was easier and the highest score is over 180, for the candidates who have scored 100th percentile. Usually, the highest score is around 160. Many are upset about the high scoring in this exam,” he said.
Nashik’s Sahil Gajare, Nagpur’s Parth Malsaria, Naman Agrawal and Yashodhara Raje-Rathore, and Amravati’s Shubhangi Thakur were among the toppers. Ashay Pradhan from Ghaziabad, Uttar Pradesh, and Rudra Kaintura from Dehradun, Uttarakhand, topped the exam from outside the state. Yashodhara and Shubhangi are the girl toppers in the exam, which was conducted from April 6 to 8 this year. The second attempt was conducted from May 9, and the results of the exam are expected soon. This is the first time the state conducted two attempts for the MBA/MMS CET, allowing students an opportunity to improve their scores.
After the controversy over the percentile scores, the state’s CET cell clarified in a statement that percentile indicates a candidate’s performance relative to other test takers and where they stand in the overall merit list. For example, a 99 percentile means a candidate performed better than 99% of the candidates who appeared for the examination. The CET Cell clarified that percentiles are calculated through a standardised and accurate process, leaving little scope for error.
