Konkan Railway undertakes pre-monsoon track works; minor delays likely
Mangaluru: Konkan Railway Corporation Limited (KRCL) has begun pre-monsoon track inspections and preventive works to ensure passenger safety and reliable operations.
The route operates on a single-line system with high capacity utilisation, requiring tight operational management. Passing through complex terrain and heavy rainfall zones, the Konkan Railway is undergoing essential engineering works as part of infrastructure upgrades.
These include cutting lowering, BLT repairs, track lifting, deep screening, through-track renewal and PQRS maintenance, aimed at maintaining track integrity and passenger comfort.
Temporary speed restrictions and blocks may cause minor delays and detentions. KRCL said most pre-monsoon works will be completed by the end of May, after which punctuality is expected to improve.
Passengers are being informed of schedule changes through station announcements, electronic displays, official websites and authorised mobile applications.
