21 LPG cylinders seized during raid in Malpe
Udupi: Officials from the food and civil supplies department seized 21 commercial LPG cylinders allegedly stored without authorisation at a residence near Malpe Junction in Udupi taluk.
Based on the complaint, Asha K, along with food inspector Hitesh UB, visited the premises of Sanath Kamath near Malpe Junction in Kodavoor village on Wednesday and conducted an inspection.
During the inspection, officials found 21 commercial LPG cylinders, including 12 filled 19kg cylinder, and nine 5kg cylinders stored on the premises. When questioned, Sanath reportedly admitted he had stocked the cylinders for sale to individuals who used them for fishing. He also stated that he did not possess any licence or documents authorising such storage or sale.
Hence, the officials seized the 21 commercial cylinders. Malpe police have registered a case under sections 3 and 7 of the Essential Commodities Act and sections 4 and 7 of the Liquefied Petroleum Gas (Supply and Distribution Regulation) Order, 2000.
