Maya reviews situation in poll-bound U’khand, Punjab
Lucknow: BSP national president Mayawati emphasised holding “small-level” meetings with Bahujan communities and motivate them to assume governance and become “ruling class like it is in UP”.
Mayawati is reviewing the party’s organisational set-up in states preparing for Assembly elections early next year. Having reviewed UP unit on Sunday, she took up review of the Uttarakhand unit on Tuesday. She may hold similar meeting in Punjab, which also has Assembly elections due in early 2027.
In these meetings, she has been asking her partymen to strengthen outreach efforts with Bahujan communities, which include Dalits, OBCs, Muslims and other religious minorities and poor from upper castes.
While asking her partymen to be vigilant against the opposition parties trying to weaken BSP’s vote base, she said voters should also be warned of opposition through cadre camps and small-level meetings. She noted that party workers had to keep reminding voters of welfare measures taken by BSP govt in UP and Uttarakhand, when it was not a separate state, through administrative reforms.
Meanwhile, selection of candidates is another poll-related process she has been emphasising on in these meetings.
