Delhi man held for running fake exam paper racket on Telegram, duping UP aspirants
Lucknow: A 27-year-old Delhi resident was arrested for allegedly running a Telegram channel that duped recruitment aspirants by promising leaked question papers for Uttar Pradesh Home Guards recruitment exams.
Police said the accused made around Rs 5 lakh through the fraud.
The accused, Prakash Mishra, a resident of Mohan Garden, New Delhi, was arrested by a joint team of Hussainganj police and the Central Zone surveillance unit on Wednesday and brought to Lucknow on Thursday.
Police said Mishra operated a Telegram channel, "Exam Paper Wallah", where he circulated messages claiming access to question papers before examinations. The racket came to light on April 24 during social media monitoring by the vigilance wing of the UP Police Recruitment and Promotion Board.
Investigators found that the channel was falsely claiming access to the UP Home Guards Enrollment-2025 exam paper.
ACP Hazratganj Vikas Jaiswal said the accused used digital platforms to mislead candidates, create panic and extract money by offering fake papers.
