CM for setting up of central CCTV dashboard for all police stations
Lucknow: Chief minister Yogi Adityanath on Sunday directed officials to develop a centralised dashboard for live monitoring of CCTV footage from all police stations across the state, while stressing that there should be “no compromise” on the security and confidentiality of police communication systems.
Chairing a review meeting of the police radio department, the CM said the state govt is committed to making the police force more modern, technology-driven and secure.
He emphasised that the confidentiality of police locations, movement and communication activities must remain fully protected and directed officials to eliminate any possibility of technical breaches in the communication network.
Yogi instructed the department to strengthen the police radio network with advanced technologies and ensure uninterrupted communication facilities even in remote areas. He said the proposed central CCTV dashboard would improve transparency, supervision and monitoring of law and order across the state.
During the meeting, discussions were also held on strengthening the departmental structure for better oversight.
Officials considered establishing the headquarters of DIG Radio (eastern zone) in Azamgarh and DIG Radio (western zone) in Aligarh. The meeting also discussed verification of character rolls of radio personnel through district police chiefs and ensuring technical testing before wireless sets are declared obsolete.
Officials informed the CM that during the previous financial year, the department procured 275 flat base masts, 5,322 batteries, 120 backpack wireless sets and several accessories including cables, chargers and antennas for police stations. Under the police modernisation scheme, 50 public address systems were also installed.
The govt said the adoption of the reverse auction process in procurement helped save nearly Rs 1.23 crore in the purchase of radio and communication equipment.
Reviewing the action plan for the financial year 2026-27, officials informed the CM that digital wireless services would be launched in 12 districts at an estimated cost of Rs 47 crore.
The proposal also includes procurement of measuring instruments, 5G filters for portable communication systems, self-supported masts for remote police stations and development of a handheld wireless communication system for the Lucknow Police Commissionerate.
The CM also stressed the need for technology-based human resource management within the department. He directed officials to update the records of all personnel on the Manav Sampada portal and ensure that character rolls, leave management and other service-related processes were handled completely through digital platforms.
He emphasised regular training of personnel in the latest technologies, computer operations and communication message quality improvement to enhance the efficiency of the police communication network.
