Australian influencer all praise for UP Police after it helped trace his lost iPhone

Lucknow: An Australian social media influencer, who lost his iPhone during the IPL final in Ahmedabad on May 31, got his gadget back on Tuesday, all thanks to UP Police, which got it recovered from a mobile shop in Aligarh.

Police acted “swiftly and effectively,” said Jake Jeakings, a cricket content creator, on Wednesday, after meeting senior superintendent of police Neeraj Jadaun.

Jeakings also thanked the police team for their quick response.

According to officials, the device’s last location was traced to a mobile shop in Aligarh. Jeakings then reached out to Aligarh Police through social media, seeking assistance.

Acting without delay, the district’s surveillance cell launched a technical probe. Using digital tracking inputs and local intelligence, the team zeroed in on the location and recovered the handset from the shop within a short span, police said.

After completing the required legal formalities, the phone was handed over to Jeakings at the district police office.

Despite the phone moving across multiple states, real-time tracking and prompt follow-up helped crack the case.

Officials also highlighted that under chief minister Yogi Adityanath, the state police has focused on strengthening law and order through cyber monitoring, surveillance networks and accountability mechanisms. This has enabled quicker detection and resolution of crimes, particularly those involving digital evidence.
