Applications for State Teacher Award 2025 begin
Lucknow: The Uttar Pradesh govt on Thursday opened the application process for the State Teacher Award 2025, inviting eligible teachers to apply online through the Prerna Portal between June 7 and June 30.
Officials said the initiative is aimed at recognising excellence in teaching, and is part of govt’s continued efforts to improve the quality of education and honour outstanding educators.
According to guidelines issued by director of Basic Education, Anil Bhushan Chaturvedi, the entire application process will be conducted online, and no offline submissions will be accepted under any circumstances.
Only regularly appointed teachers who have completed at least 15 years of service and have a minimum of five years remaining before retirement will be eligible for the award. Contractual teachers, Shiksha Mitras, retired teachers, and those who have already received state or national-level awards have been excluded.
“The selection process has been designed to be transparent and merit-based, with candidates evaluated on a 100-point assessment scale. Key parameters include academic performance, contribution to school development, increase in student enrolment, adoption of innovative teaching methods, use of digital tools, improvement in learning outcomes, presentation skills, and interview performance,” said a govt official.
District-level selection committees will scrutinise and verify applications between July 1 and July 20, selecting three teachers from each district.
The final stage will involve a state-level evaluation, including presentations and interviews from August 1 to August 14, after which one teacher from each district will be selected for the award.
