Two murder cases reported in Kolhapur district within 12 hrs

Kolhapur: Two murders within a span of around 12 hours were reported in and around Kolhapur city between Sunday night and Monday morning. The police, however, were quick to act and arrested the accused in both the cases.

In the first incident that took place on Sunday night, a man was killed by his younger brother in the Rajarampuri area of Kolhapur city. The deceased was identified as Harsh Pandharbale (21).

According to the police, 19-year-old Yash Pandharbale took a metal bottle and hit it on his brother's head repeatedly, leading to the latter's death.

"Yash later came to the police station and confessed to the crime. He told us that his brother was a habitual drinker and frequently fought with the parents and neighbours. Harsh is survived by his wife and two daughters," a police officer said.

In the second incident that occurred at Maner Mala near Gandhinagar, an autorickshaw driver was found dead early on Monday.

The deceased was identified as Prashant Baburao Pandit. The police found that on the earlier night Pandit had a dispute with Yash Dipak Dorkar (21) and Amit Khutbuddin Ainapure (22).

The police found Dorkar and Ainapure hiding near a hotel on the Bharati Vidyapeeth Road and arrested them. TNN
