5 detained after woman, her 2 kids found dead
Kolhapur: The Solapur taluka police on Sunday detained four members of the main suspect's family and one of their neighbours for questioning in the murders of Gayatri Sudhakar Mhaske (40), her daughter, Priya (17) and son Shivraj (15) in their house at Boramani, based on a complaint by Gayatri's brother accusing the family of having a role in these murders."We are questioning these five people to verify their roles, if any, based on the statement recorded by the complainant, Dilip Chandole, a resident of Bidar in Karnataka," inspector Rahul Deshpande of the Solapur Taluka police station told TOI.The main suspect, who is Gayatri's brother-in-law, has evaded arrest and efforts are on to trace him, the officer said. "Our probe so far has revealed that Gayatri, a widow, was pursuing her brother-in-law to return the Rs 25 lakh loan she had given to him and was also asking for a share in the family's ancestral property. This appears to be the motive behind the murders," Deshpande added. The police seized a sword from the house where these murders took place and are suspecting that it was used to kill the victims.
