Man stabbed to death by gang, one arrested

Kochi: A 31-year-old man was stabbed to death by a three-member gang at Karma Lane in Palluruthy on Saturday night.

The deceased was Shijoy of Palluruthy. Police have identified the accused as Jenson, Jobi and Hareesh, all natives of Palluruthy. One of the accused Jenson was arrested on Sunday, and efforts are on to arrest the remaining accused, police said.

Police sources said that preliminary investigations suggest that an argument over a modified bike owned by Jenson triggered the attack. However, police are investigating if there were any other motives behind the attack, including previous enmity. As per the FIR, the attack occurred between 8.30pm and 8.45pm. The accused allegedly stabbed Jenson multiple times around his rib cage.

According to sources, police have traced the remaining two accused as well. However, their arrest would be recorded only after a primary investigation into their roles in the crime. Meanwhile, sources said that it is suspected that it was Jenson who inflicted the fatal stab wound even as the other two were present at the scene during the crime.

The investigation team is examining CCTV visuals from the area.
